“Maybe Maybeline”
I got some juicy gossip that you can spread around.
About a girl who wears her smile mostly upside down.
Covered in her make-up pink chipping off her nails.
She has a reputation for believing fairytales.
Maybe you would know her, she’s got glitter in her hair,
rainbow colored eyelids, and a sexy kinda stare.
I’m not sayin’ that she’s trashy or tryin’ to talk her down,
cause bless her heart I know she is the sweetest girl around.
Maybe Maybeline will someday see
that the matters of the heart take priority.
Hard times she’s see plenty just lookin’ for a start
but pretty painted faces cannot mend a broken heart.
Vanity and money have been her truest friends
Lost in her own virtues and believing in her sins
She’s somewhat superficial when it comes to having dreams
Some say she’s lost the answers but in her eyes still it seems
Maybe Maybeline will someday see
that the matters of the heart take priority.
Hard times she’s see plenty just lookin’ for a start
but pretty painted faces cannot mend a broken heart.
It’s easy to forgive her for she’s done nobody wrong
She decorates her soul and hides her beauty to belong
I have a premonition why she’s painted like a clown
She doesn’t want to show what lies beneath her powdered frown.
But Maybeline you’re lovely perhaps you’ve not been told
Free your inner beauty and release your charming soul
Though you’ve tried to paint a picture of the happiness you hold
It’s dust in the wind and you cannot spend eternity with gold
Maybe Maybeline will someday see
that the matters of the heart take priority.
Hard times she’s see plenty just lookin’ for a start
but pretty painted faces cannot mend a broken heart.
